Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2021: The Benefits Of Soy

According to The Shanghai Breast Cancer Survival Study, 2001-2009, it showed that there was a 29% reduction in Mortality and a 32% reduction in the Recurrence of estrogen-related cancers by consuming 10-grams of soy foods daily.

While 10 grams may seem like a large amount, here are examples of common soy foods and their usual soy protein content:

  • 8 ounces of plain soy milk – 3 to 10 grams
  • 3 ounces of water-packed tofu – 6 to 13 grams
  • ¼ cup of soy nuts – 12 grams
  • 2 tablespoons soy nut butter – 6 to 8 grams
  • ½ cup of tempeh – 16 to 22 grams
  • ½ cup of canned soybeans – 13 grams
  • 2/3 cups of edamame – 6 grams
